In this course, participants will follow construction drawings to select, layout, and join all the framing members required to assemble and raise a 10’ x 12’ three-bent timber frame structure. This includes floor, wall, and roof framing using the skills and knowledge gained from the prerequisite Introduction to Timber Framing course. Tool selection, safe use, care and maintenance will be reviewed. At the completion of the timber raising all participants will take part in the time honored tradition of the tree topping.
Tools / Supplies Required: UBC Heavy Timber Framing book received in “Introduction to Timber Framing”, hard hat, clear safety glasses, work boots, tool belt w/ tape measure, chalk line (no red or black chalk), sharp utility knife, pencils, pen, notebook, highlighter, lumber crayon, sliding T-bevel, combination square, framing square, sharp hand saw, sharp block plane
