Not sure of what the Building Envelope is? Understanding of the Building Envelope has been added to the Skill Advancement schedule to help the members understand what it is. Check the schedule for the new 11-hour class being offered. This class will lead into more Building Envelope classes that are currently under development.
The Industrial Scaffold class has now been broken down into 4 seperate classes. For those that don't want to take 48 hours of scaffolding, you can now take each class individually that range from 8 hours to 16 hours in length. There is no need to take them all if you don't want to. If all 4 classes have been taken, you will receive credit for taking the Industrial Scaffolding. Check under the Scaffolding section to see the list of new classes and times.
In construction, if you don’t produce, you’re not an asset to anyone—not the general contractor, the project manager, or the end-user. UBC members know this, our contractors know this, and our union’s leadership knows it. That’s why our foundation is to deliver skilled, productive work.
UBC training is the hallmark of our union. While our members may have vastly different skill sets, they all share the pride and commitment of being the most highly trained in the most up-to-date theories and methodologies, tools, installation procedures, and safety measures.
It’s the UBC’s Edge, and it’s the asset our contractors can bank on
Please visit http://www.carpentersunion.org/idcard/ to see a video on how you can check your training verification card. Classes highlighted in yellow will be expiring in 6 months or less. Once expired, the class disappears from your card.
Check your Training Verification Card for the expiration date of your Qualification/Certification courses. Six months prior to the expiration date, the course will turn yellow to bring it to your attention. When your Qualification/Certification expires, the records will disappear from your card.

Please have your UBC ID number available.
Every member who has completed training should have received a new photo ID from the United Brotherhood of Carpenters (UBC).This new card has a QR code that links to the records of your completed UBC classes that were taken throughout the years. This new card replaces all of the old cards that were issued at the completion of a class; no more individual cards will be issued. Any new training will appear on your new card after the successful completion of the class.
Members who did not receive a card may have an old address on file. Please contact your local union to update your mailing address. The school will then need to be notified so that a new card can be issued. Members who have not completed any training will receive a new ID card once they successfully complete their first training class.
With new ID card in hand, please check your training history by scanning the QR code on the front of the card. After scanning, you will see your name and photo as well as your local union and classification level. When you click on "Training" you will see a list of the classes that are in your records and the expiration dates of classes, such as Rigging. Please be aware that if the expiration date has passed, the records will not appear on your card.
If you do NOT have a picture on your card, you must come to the Elk Grove Village school between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. to have your picture taken. A new card will then be issued and mailed to you with your picture on it.
If a UBC class that you have completed does not appear on the card, please call the school and we can update your records as needed. 847-640-7373. Please be aware that outside training (non-UBC training that you have completed) will not appear on your card.
Carry your new ID card with you at all times. Treat it as a "resume in your back pocket" and be prepared to present it to a prospective employer.
